Tinnitus & Tinnitus Management

Tinnitus, or ringing in the ears, is one of the most common medical conditions in the U.S. today, as 1 in 5 American’s report some degree of tinnitus. Tinnitus can sound like a ring, hum, chirp, buzz, or other similar sound and can range from occasionally bothersome to extremely inhibiting. These sounds can be pulsatile, meaning they pulse similar to a heartbeat, or nonpulsatile, like a constant tone. Tinnitus can have many different causes such as a high pitch hearing loss, noise exposure, stress and lack of sleep, Meniere’s Disease, ear infection, acoustic neuroma, among others. 

 

While there may not be a cure for tinnitus, it can oftentimes be managed. Denise Bickley, doctor of audiology, is certified in tinnitus management and works with patients at understanding their tinnitus, the impact it has on their lives, and works with them to create a tinnitus management plan.
